Question of the Week
Week of 04/17/07

Q: My boyfriend of 2 years is about to propose marriage. My gut tells me to wait for one reason: He teases me too much in public. When we are with friends, he can border on rudeness towards me. Should we wait on marriage?

A: Have your shared this with him? You only want to marry a man who promotes you in public. To his family and friends, you are the queen. No one makes fun of the queen or runs her name down in public or in private.

King Solomon promoted his soon-to-be bride in public. In Song of Songs 2:4, the Shulammite woman brags on Solomon's kindness and gentleness: "He has taken me to the banquet hall, and his banner over me is love." She is praising Solomon for the way He esteems and exalts her.

Honor is esteeming someone as highly valuable, personally autographed by God. Don't rush marriage until you are 100 percent convinced that he honors you, both in public and in private.

Blessings!
