HUNGRY FOR A BLESSING
[Peter] said to [Jesus], "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Feed My lambs." John 21:15
Every person longs to be accepted. Some may say, "I don't care what other people think about me." But on the inside, everyone yearns for intimacy and affection.
In other words, we all enter this world hungry for a blessing. Sadly, many people go through their whole lives without ever having that hunger satisfied. As a result, children grow into insecure and unhappy adultsunable to break free from their parents. They are hampered in developing intimate relationships, hard-pressed to give praise or support to others.
The good news is: It doesn't have to be that way. God doesn't create a hunger without creating a source of satisfaction. He is the one who "fills the hungry soul with goodness" (Ps. 107:9). And in telling us to "feed My lambs," He calls us to help provide spiritual food for all those around us who are starving for a blessing.
| Make a list of people in your life who may be hungry for a blessing. Start with your family, then list friends, co-workers, people in your church, and others. Don't forget to include yourself! God also offers nourishment for your "hungry soul."
