IN ALL THE WRONG PLACES

And you did not allow me to kiss my sons and my
daughters. Now you have done foolishly in so doing.
Genesis 31:28

Meaningful touch may also play a part in determining sexual orientation. One study with homosexual men revealed a common characteristic: a lack of meaningful touch from their fathers early in life. Dr Ross Campbell, in his excellent book, How to Really Love Your Child, finds a similar conclusion. He writes, "In all my reading and experience, I have never known of one sexually disoriented person who had a warm, loving, and affectionate father."

Admittedly, this issue raises many questions. Certainly, touch from both a mother and father is important. And not all people who grow up without a loving touch from one or both parents turn out to be homosexual.

Regardless, the key point holds. Meaningful touching can protect a child from looking to meet this need in all the wrong places.

Do you know someone whose hunger for touch has led them to the wrong places? Or is this a problem in your life? We have good news: God can redeem even a touch-deprived and gone-astray life!
